The Big Impact: Rachel & Nadia-Ann’s Story

Rachel & Nadia-Ann's story

Sometimes, a match is more than mentorship; it’s friendship, family, and a bond that changes two lives forever. That’s exactly what happened when Rachel and Nadia-Ann were paired through Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Simcoe. From their very first meeting, it was clear their connection was something special, what Nadia-Ann calls “kismet.”

Describing each other as best friends and “two sides of a coin,” the pair has spent the past three years creating memories over shared meals, painting in the park, and even grocery shopping for families in need through the Hungry Heroes program. Whether it’s sitting by the water eating takeout from Kelsey’s or coordinating meals for others, their time together is filled with laughter, creativity, and trust. Rachel helped boost Nadia-Ann’s confidence, while Nadia-Ann brought energy, humour, and joy into Rachel’s life. As Nadia-Ann puts it, “Rachel has been one of my biggest supporters.”

What began as a mentorship has grown into a lifelong friendship that continues to shape who they are and how they show up in the world. Their story is a beautiful reminder of The Big Impact a mentor can have, not just in the moment, but for years to come.
