The In School mentoring program provides youth with a role model and a friend to talk to and share the experiences of growing up during the school year. For one hour a week, mentors meet with their mentees, either virtually or in person, and engage in activities such as board games, crafts, sports, reading or just spending time together.
The In School mentoring program requires a weekly visit of one hour for the duration of the school year. Matches do not meet over the summer break or during other school holidays,
Young people are referred to Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Simcoe from our participating schools.
Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years old and be able to commit to the same day and time each week during the school year. All volunteers are required to have a criminal record check with the vulnerable sector screening.

We recognize the importance of language, and its impact on inclusivity and identity erasure. We acknowledge how our organizational name re-enforces the gender binary and fails to honour Trans, non-binary and gender diverse identities and we are actively advocating for change. We welcome mentors and mentees who are 2SLGBTQIA+
