How Mentorship Leads to Success
Looking back, my path wasn’t always clear. I attended high school with holes in my shoes and lacked direction until I found my passion for football, which motivated me to strive academically. These experiences were pivotal, but the guidance and support I received from my mentors through Big Brothers Big Sisters truly set the stage for my success.
After high school, I embraced entrepreneurship and founded truLOCAL, an online marketplace connecting consumers with local farmers. This venture wasn’t just a business—it was a journey that taught me about resilience, innovation, and the importance of community support. In 2021, I sold truLOCAL for $16.7 million, a milestone that enabled me to pursue another dream: race-car driving. None of this would have been possible without the mentors who believed in me and guided me through my formative years.
Mentorship equals so much. For me, it was resilience, guidance, and the confidence to pursue my dreams. It was the cornerstone of my journey from having nothing in high school to becoming a successful entrepreneur and race-car driver. Each mentor I had was so integral in my growth, helping me find and choose paths I might never have had the confidence to pursue on my own.
For me, mentorship equals every success, every choice, and every dream I was able to fulfill. This social connection is close to my heart, and I’m proud to show you how mentorship can shape futures.
These relationships taught me the value of persistence, the importance of community, and that every one of us has the potential to achieve greatness if only given the support and the chance to try.
Now, I invite you to explore the role of becoming a mentor. Whether you have a few hours a month or a few hours a week, your influence can significantly alter a young person’s trajectory.
Join us as we explore the powerful equation of mentorship and what it equals. Together, we can unlock potential and steer more young lives toward brighter futures.
I’m excited to see where this journey takes us, together.
