Be a Little

The Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is looking for children and youth who will be matched with a uniquely suited adult over 18 years of age to talk to and share common interests with. Through regular outings, a relationship is developed between the mentor and the mentee that is built on trust and consistency. With the support of their volunteer mentors, children are able to increase their self-confidence, enhance social skills, and engage in new experiences within their community.

Relationship Skills

Mentoring helps a young person communicate clearly, listen well, cooperate with others, resist inappropriate social pressure, negotiate conflict constructively, and seek and offer help when needed.

Help youth understand the perspectives of others and empathize with them, including those from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Mentorship means youth make constructive choices about personal behaviour and social interactions based on ethical standards, safety and social norms.

Effectively manage stress, control impulses, and motivate themselves to set and achieve goals.
